THE ANCHOR INN sits in the heart of traditional, Hampshire partridge shooting country.
Rolling cornfields and thick hedgerows provide the perfect habitat for grey English partridges and the red – legged Frenchmen! Bighton Manor Estate was last year listed by ‘The Field’ as one of the top twenty partridge shoots in the country and is located only twenty minutes drive away.
We can also source ‘Wild Sport’ for small teams of guns whose preference is duck flighting, pigeon shooting with decoys or shooting over dogs. We take great pride in helping clients craft the perfect day, working closely with Outside Days to arrange game shooting for the single gun and the complete team.
Clay pigeon shooting can also be arranged with the historic ‘Bisley Shooting Ground’ being only a 40 minute drive from the Inn.

ALL WE ASK OF OUR GUNS is that they hold insurance cover for third party indemnity to £1,000,000 and can provide us with written assurance. While cartridges are a matter of personal preference, we are happy to source these for you provided we are given notice. Should you be visiting The Anchor Inn from abroad and wish to travel with your own shotgun, we can assist you in obtaining the relevant permits. Ask at the Inn or contact Howard Day for details.

Three days grouse in August in the Highlands, shooting over pointers, this is a rare opportunity to shoot August grouse, not quite the 12th but very nearly! Accommodation is in a local country house hotel and the package includes all accommodation, meals, sport, cartridges and airport transfers (Inverness). There is also the possibility of a little wild brown trout fishing on the Upper Spey for those with enough energy left at the end of the day.
